Walker to Keynote Inter-Religious Council Thanksgiving Service
Speech to include new Prosperity Agenda and other ideas for better communities
Cedar Rapids, IA – Linn County Supervisor Stacey Walker will be the keynote speaker for the annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service hosted by the Inter-Religious Council of Linn County, an organization formed to encourage respect and friendship among persons of different faiths in the community.
“It is an honor to be given a platform by an organization that is doing incredible work in our community,” said Linn County Supervisor Stacey Walker. “I’m looking forward to presenting a Prosperity Agenda, where all people in our community are included and are afforded opportunities to thrive.”
Supervisor Walker plans to debut a new vision for Linn County communities in his speech by talking about the arcs of growth and opportunity, two themes at the heart of a “Prosperity Agenda,” that he plans to discuss with voters over the next year.
“We’re thrilled to have Supervisor Walker join us for our annual event,” said Charles Crawley, who serves as president of the Inter-Religious Council of Linn County. “It is a beautiful thing to see people from all faith backgrounds and ethnicities leave their political affiliations at the door to fellowship with one another and give thanks for our community.”
The event is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken for the Linn Community Food Bank. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the service. Individuals that require special accommodations in order to attend should contact Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
