Walker Campaign Endorsed By Teamsters
Cedar Rapids, IA – In a unanimous vote, the Teamsters Local 238 has endorsed Stacey Walker, Democratic candidate for Linn County Supervisor, District 2. While the Teamsters Union is one of the most politically active in the country, Local 238 is largest local in the state. The organization boasts 6,000 members in 84 counties, with 900 members in Linn County.
“I’ve gotten to know Stacey over the course of a few election cycles. I’ve watched him work hard for candidates supporting policies that will benefit working families and move this country forward,” said Jesse Case, State Political Director for the Teamsters Union. “We’ll work hard to mobilize our membership to ensure Stacey gets elected. He’s worked hard for us, and we’ll work hard for him.”
Teamsters Local 238 is the latest in a series of high-profile labor endorsements for Walker’s campaign demonstrating a broad coalition of support for the candidate heading into the final months of the general election.
“Earning the support of an organization like the Teamsters is every candidate’s dream,” said Stacey Walker. “They have an impressive record of mobilizing grassroots support and getting candidates across the finish line. It’s an honor and a privilege to have the support of the Teamsters.”
Walker has received the endorsement of the Plumbers, Fitters, Welders and HVAC Service Techs Local 125, AFL-CIO Hawkeye Labor Council, IBEW State Conference, SEIU Local 199 and the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Building Trades. Walker captured 74% of the vote in the June 7th Primary to become the Democratic nominee for Supervisor in District 2. If elected in November, Walker will be the first African American elected to the county board.
