Walker Campaign Wins Backing of IBEW
Cedar Rapids, IA – The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Iowa State Conference and IBEW Local 405 have endorsed Stacey Walker, Democratic candidate for Linn County Supervisor, District 2. IBEW Local 405 represents electrical workers from six different counties and is known as one of the most politically active labor organizations in the state.
“Our organization is proud to stand with Stacey Walker in his effort to be our next supervisor. He has a track record of supporting the policies important to our members and working people across this state,” said Bill Hanes, Business Manager for IBEW Local 405 and President of the IBEW State Conference. “Our brothers and sisters will do everything we can to see to it that Stacey is elected in November.”
The IBEW State Conference is one of the larger labor organizations in Iowa with 9,000 active members. The organization has a long history of political activity, providing candidates and campaigns with financial support and volunteer field organizers.
“The IBEW is the third major labor organization to endorse our campaign and we are honored to have earned their trust and support. I have always been a friend to organized labor because we have a shared belief in policies that will help working families in Iowa,” said Stacey Walker. “These endorsements provide much needed momentum heading into the general election.”
Walker has received the endorsement of the Plumbers, Fitters, Welders and HVAC Service Techs Local 125 and the Hawkeye Labor Council. Walker captured 74% of the vote in the June 7th Primary to become the Democratic nominee for Supervisor in District 2. If elected in November, Walker will be the first African American elected to the county board.
